Beet can be stored by lifting the remaining roots; twist off the tops and store in boxes of slightly damp sand in frost-free conditions. -

Attractive, silvery-white blooms with golden-yellow 'eyes' are produced from June to August each year. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Do not exclude light as this helps germination.Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots.
