Image shows plant when in flower.A mat-forming evergreen with dark-green, ovate leaves, Vinca is one of the best ground cover plants available.Looking good through all seasons and growing in any aspect, It is a vigorous grower, yet not overly invasive. It is tough, fully hardy and evergreen with pretty mauve-purple flowers produced from Spring through to Autumn, once established it will need next to no attention. A particularly tolerant plant, it will be happy in shade or sun, with deep green foliage carpeting the ground.The new growth each spring is bright green and at this point the plants become covered in masses of very pretty star-like flowers, these continue to appear sporadically throughout spring and summer and in to autumn. Hosta Wide Brim, commonly known as Plantain lily is a clump forming, herbaceous perennial with large heart shaped dark green leaves with broad margins of a creamy yellow colour. The foliage of this Hebe is the main attraction to gardeners and the flowers these produce are just an extra benefit of growing this perennial. In July the Hosta Wide Brim bears tall, erect stems above the foliage with funnel shaped lavender coloured flowers which contrast well with the foliage.Planted in many locations, including flower beds and borders, used as ground cover or underplanting roses and trees. Stella d'Oro is easy to grow and it is adapted to harsh conditions like polluted city gardens, heat and drought, poor and dry soil, eroded slopes and the space under black walnut trees. Stella d'Oro's fragrant, showy blooms on a dwarf plant are perfect for a front border. The first blooming occurs in late Spring to early Summer with a profusion of blooms.
