This Japanese Spindle or Wintercreeper variety is a small, bushy, evergreen shrub, but will climb if planted against a wall. Its ovate, glossy, variegated leaves have emerald green centres and creamy white margins, becoming tinged with pink in winter. Great for providing winter interest. Great as hedging, or plant in any good garden soil, avoiding wet areas.Sun or part shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil or potting compost. Plant at same depth as pot and gently firm and surrounding soil. Tubs plants will need watering regularly, especially if dry and windy. Border plants need regular watering until established. Known as the partridge berry or checkerberry, this dwarf evergreen creeping shrub grows to a maximum height of just 30cm. From June to August it produces fragrant and dainty white bell-shaped flowers often blushed pink with yellow veining. After flowering, gorgeous bright pink-red berries are produced in abundance, contrasting against the shiny deep green foliage. This shrub is ideal for attracting birds to the garden and with winter around the corner they'll appreciate it more than ever. We'd recommend planting in a shaded or partially shaded spot in the border or rockery. A spectacular show of colour! Depending on how much sunlight is available, the Chameleon plant changes colour, hence the common name. In shady areas, the leaves will be variegated green and cream. With more sun, they will take on striking hues of yellow, pink, and scarlet red. Viking is a self fertile hardy shrub producing purpleish-black fruits like blackcurrants in the autumn. Attractive autumn leaf colours and pink-tinged white hawthorn-like flowers appear in the spring.Chokeberries will happily grow in any moist but well drained soil, except over chalk. Prefers to be planted in an area that has plenty of sun but with partial shade. Also good for planting alongside a hedgerow. A small weeping tree with unusual variegated leaves. The summer foliage has attractive sharp light and dark green variegation which turns into striking multi-toned red and orange autumn tints. Deciduous in Winter.The blossom is pale pink, and borne in profusion in early Spring. Superb mini tree for a variety of gardens, can also be grown in a patio pot. Can be pruned hard in the spring, after flowering to enhance its variegation and leaf size.Best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the best flower display and autumn colour.
