Ostrya Carpinifolia also known as Hop Hornbeam.A bush-shaped tree reaching 15m, with ovate, double toothed leaves that turn clear yellow in autumn. Yellow-green catkins coupled with the creamy white flowers resembling hops, give rise to nutlets contained in bladder-like husks.It's a good wildlife tree attracting many pollinators. Ostrya Growing Tips: Thriving in most conditions but prefers well-drained soil in semi-shade or full sun. It is important you observe the instructions and maintenance recommendations. Metal chimeneas will rust. How much they rust is dependant on whether they are left outside in all weathers, how much they are used, how they are looked after. All can be re-painted. Rust does not affect use. Metal chimeneas surfaces can become very hot in use and will burn the skin if touched. Burning temperatures inside steel and cast iron chimeneas are even higher than inside traditional cast iron chimeneas. We recommend the use of a chimenea guard when small children are present. -

A really luscious oriental poppy with deep reddish-purple flowers in early summer and bristly, grey-green leaves. The silky, pleated petals of this popular variety have been compared to the faded silk of antique ball gowns. Although the flowers of all oriental poppies are ephemeral, they are easy to grow and each plant will produce several flowers. If cut back after flowering, they may even produce a second flush. Plant it in a sunny border, as part of a cottage-garden scheme, alongside grasses or late summer-flowering perennials, such as dahlias, which will provide interest when the plant has died back.
