Standard size - this indicates the height to which the trunk has been cleared before the foliage head begins. This standard has the appearance of a small tree. It has a long thin truck with rounded foliage head. Evergreen and aromatic, the Laurus nobilis is one of the most popular evergreen standard trees, loved by the Romans and cherished for it's delicate flavouring in culinary cuisine, these beautiful plants will grace an entrance or doorway and look fabulous planted in the border, paterre or herb garden.Position: Bay trees love a sunny or partially shaded area of the garden. Watering: Water regularly with well-drained soil during the growing season. Don't allow roots to stand in water. Less water is required in the winter months, but don't allow the tree to dry out.Likes fertile, well-drained soil.Likes shelter from cold winds and frost. In cooler regions, consider growing in a pot which you can move indoors in autumn.
