Lovely, lavender blue, pincushion like flowers from July to September held on delicate stems above clumps of lance shaped, grey green leaves. A hardy, evergreen, perennial succulent bearing narrow, pointed, pale green leaves with a cream edge, on semi-erect stems that trail over time. Sedum lineare 'Variegatum' is a fast grower, and will brighten up a rock garden or fill a container in a few months. It produces small, bright yellow, star-shaped flowers in early summer.Low maintenance, and drought tolerant when mature. In dry conditions water once a week. If the plant is kept in a container, raise the container off the ground to allow water to drain freely. Sedum Purpur is a hardy perennial with bronze green leaves with a red edge forming a decorative mat then reddish-pink summer flowers which add interest. Use in containers or plant in raised beds and banks. Plant in sun or part shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil or potting compost. Tubs plants will need watering regularly, especially if dry and windy. A terrific low evergreen groundcover for sunny areas with poor dry soil. This forms a trailing mat of succulent golden-yellow leaves. Clusters of yellow starry flowers appear during the summer. When planted in containers or on a wall this develops a beautiful cascading habit.Plants may be pruned back at any time if they get too large. Foliage sometimes develops beautiful amber tones in the autumn and winter. Does well in large rock gardens where the plants can be given room to spread. Best with occasional to no foot traffic.
