PERENNIALS

  • A myriad of relatively large, showy, intense coral red flowers are held in well-branched panicles and persist for 4-8 weeks beginning in late spring. They have a subtle, sweet fragrance and make a bold statement in the garden. They even attract butterflies! Removing spent flower stalks will extend the bloom time. This selection has green leaves and a compact mounding growth habit.Sold in a 11cm pot.

  • 'Great Expectations' is a hosta cultivar that features a 22-24 tall mound of large, variegated, oval, puckered, basal leaves with creamy white centers and wide, irregular, blue-green margins. Leaf centers emerge gold in spring before aging to creamy white. Foliage mound will typically spread to 30-33 wide.Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. High-filtered or dappled sunlight is necessary for clean, healthy growth.Cut back to ground level and these will return year after year.Sold in a 2 litre pot.
  • In the warmer months this tough hosta has huge, corrugated yellow-green leaves, and in July spikes of pale lilac flowers that appear. This plaintain lily makes a bold statement in a large container in a shady courtyard. In a border, it looks stunning close to an entrance or path, or among other plants with distinctive foliage, such as ferns. Although it will cope with some sun, the soil must be kept moist. The leaves are best shaded from the midday sun and sheltered from cold, drying winds.
