An evergreen succulent rosette forming perennial producing the darkest red fleshy leaves and violet flowers.sempervivum means 'always alive', a reference to the fact that houseleeks tolerate extreme temperatures and drought. The hardiness of sempervivums makes them excellent, easy-to-grow garden plants.Sempervivums are most valued for their distinctive rosettes of succulent, spirally patterned foliage, although they also bear attractive flowers from spring to summer. Each rosette is a separate plant, and is monocarpic - it flowers once and then dies, but is soon replaced by other new rosettes, called offsets. These offsets can be separated and planted up, and will then grow into new clumps.Sempervivum plants prefer well-draining compost with 25 to 50% sand or other grit. They may grow in trays, in ground, on wood, or in rock piles.Sold in a 11cm pot. -

Hardy Perennial. This is one of the most popular penstemons for its spectacular and long lasting flowering season. Forms a bushy plant to 3ft. Penstemon can flower for up to six months of the year. They are best grown in a sunny or partially shady spot in the border, on a moister garden soil but will tolerate drought. Penstemon are resistant to slugs and other pests and attractive to bees. Common name, Slender Vervain, is a low-growing perennial species that produces an abundance of punchy purple flowers from summer and into autumn. Its lax growing habit makes it ideal for planting in great swathes and softening the edges of borders.Sunlight: This plant receives full sun in its natural habitat. It can handle part shade, but greater sun exposure leads to a better growth rate. The tuberous vervain is drought-tolerant, but it does best when situated in moist soil.Plant Type: Perennial, DeciduousGarden care: In cold conditions Verbena bonariensis can suffer dieback if cut back in autumn, so it's best to leave the plant until spring and cut back the old growth when you see the new shoots emerging at the base.Sold in a 1 litre pot. -
