  • The Laurus nobilis is a handsome evergreen shrub or small tree. It features aromatic waxy green leaves, which are often used in cookery. Small clusters of creamy yellow flowers appear in early summer. The ‘Bay Laurel’ is perfect for screening; it is also used as part of herb garden or alongside roses to add structure to a border. This Laurel has been cultivated since the beginning of recorded history and was a key symbol of mythological history too.   • Standard size - this indicates the height to which the trunk has been cleared before the foliage head begins. This standard has the appearance of a small tree. It has a long thin truck with rounded foliage head. Evergreen and aromatic, the Laurus nobilis is one of the most popular evergreen standard trees, loved by the Romans and cherished for it's delicate flavouring in culinary cuisine, these beautiful plants will grace an entrance or doorway and look fabulous planted in the border, paterre or herb garden.Position: Bay trees love a sunny or partially shaded area of the garden. Watering: Water regularly with well-drained soil during the growing season. Don't allow roots to stand in water. It can also bloom with small, white flowers in Spring, however these are often insignificant and do not draw attention away from it's glorious foliage. An ideal plant at providing groundcover, due to it's low spreading habit. Can grow up to 1m in height if not maintained, however it is commonly and very easily trimmed to keep it compact.This plant is easy to grow and very hardy. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and a shady position but is also tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions. Sold in a 12 litre pot.
