Juniperus horizontalis 'Icee Blue' is one of the best prostrate conifers introduced in recent years. This well branched Creeping Juniper quickly forms a carpet of silvery-blue evergreen foliage that turns to plummy-bronze shades during the coldest winters. Given sufficient space, this lovely Bonin Island Juniper will spread prostrate across the ground providing excellent groundcover. Where growing conditions are more crowded it will take a more mounded form - either way, it is equally attractive! You may ask what's the difference between ornamental kale and regular kale?Apart from their looks, a key difference between this and the leafy greens you buy at the grocery store is that this variety isn't grown for flavour and as a result, the ornamental stuff is much less flavourful than the (edible) culinary leafy greens.
