  • A splendid, medium sized deciduous shrub with mid- to dark green foliage. Masses of rich yellow, four petalled flowers smother the branches in spring. Excellent for covering walls, fits nicely into shrub borders and can be used as a specimen shrub.   • Fuchsia Alice Hoffman, commonly known as Lady’s Ear Drops, is a small, upright, deciduous shrub with dark green, tinged bronze / purple leaves. This free flowering fuchsia produces delicate, small, semi-double flowers which have pink tubes and sepals with white corollas veined pink, throughout the summer.   • The partridge berry or checkerberry is an excellent choice for containers (when potted up using ericaceous compost), but it also makes a handsome ground-covering plant for a shadier spot. It forms a carpet of thick glossy evergreen foliage, which is covered in early summer with white to pale pink flowers.   • Gaultheria is the ideal evergreen plant for difficult areas in the garden. These low-growing plants will thrive in a shady corner. Plants can actually help with weed problems in the garden, thanks to their thick, almost impenetrable growth habit. An ideal ground covering plant.Gaultheria procumbens has rounded, simple leaves, which are tough and leathery, and turn a glorious red by October, giving fantastic autumn colour in the garden. The small, bell-shaped flowers are followed by red berries too, giving vital food to birds and wildlife.Gaultheria is a low maintenance plant, which is quick growing and is an excellent ground cover plant for shady gardens.   • Known as the partridge berry or checkerberry, this dwarf evergreen creeping shrub grows to a maximum height of just 30cm. From June to August it produces fragrant and dainty white bell-shaped flowers often blushed pink with yellow veining.   • Gaura's are pretty, deciduous perennials, that look great in cottage garden style or informal plantings. This plant, Walbertons Flamingo has small delicate starry flowers which are pink with white centers.They appear from early summer right through to autumn and are good fillers in borders.Prefers moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun but dry soils and partial shade are tolerated.   • Masses of lavender blue flowers appear starting in May or early June. The flowers are large for a perennial geranium (2cm across) and continue to appear until late October.
