Acer Palmatum Going Green (better known as Japanese Maple) is a small deciduous acer with lobed lime green leaves that emerge in early spring and turn vibrant lime green over the summer months. As with most Japanese Acers its foliage turns fiery shades of orange and red in autumn. The new foliage of this striking Japanese maple emerges in spring a vibrant red, and as it ages it deepens in colour, turning rich claret until the autumn when it becomes a brighter shade once again before it falls. In shadier conditions, where the foliage is shaded by the outermost leaves, it may turn greenish, but it will usually retain a mahogany blush.
