Fill gap with soil/comost/fertiliser mixture., 6. Finally firm in well with heel and water well.Aftercare: In early winter remove all the foliage. In spring, take meaures to protect the plant against slugs and snalils. If the plant becomes too large or congested then lift, divide and plant in the autumn or spring.Tip, surround the area from the plant base outward to a fair bit with horitcultural grit, maybe place some large decorative stones to prevent the grit from escaping into the surrounding soil.   • 'Great Expectations' is a hosta cultivar that features a 22-24 tall mound of large, variegated, oval, puckered, basal leaves with creamy white centers and wide, irregular, blue-green margins. Leaf centers emerge gold in spring before aging to creamy white. Foliage mound will typically spread to 30-33 wide.Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. High-filtered or dappled sunlight is necessary for clean, healthy growth.Cut back to ground level and these will return year after year.Sold in a 2 litre pot.
