A relatively fast growing variety with rare and unusual characteristics. Small to medium size tree with very pendulous branches, creating a broad, weeping shape. The bark is grey, peeling in strips when mature. The almost round leaf is light bronze-green on emerging, turning blue-green in summer. Vibrant shades of orange, red and purple in autumn and a pleasantly spicy/cinnamon scent as the leaves fall.Growing Tips: Likes moist but well drained, acidic soils. Will tolerate some lime but will grow better and produce more vivid autumn colour in acid soil. Very hardy but vulnerable to late spring frosts as a young plant. Grows best in an area sheltered from strong winds.Height and Spread (after 10 years): 3m x 3mSold in a 12 litre pot.Picture images courtesy of Frank P Matthews
